This week’s book is City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments #2). Yes, I’m rereading this again. The Mortal Instruments series is written by Cassandra Clare.
First sentence (or so):

Who’s place is Cassandra Clare describing? Is she going to introduce a new character to us or did Magnus Bane moved from Brooklyn?
Maryse’s expression changed slowly from bewilderment to shock as she looked at Luke—really looked at him—for the first time. “Lucian?”
“Hello Maryse,” said Luke. “It’s been a long time.”
