Dumbledore’s Army Readathon #DAReadAThon

Dumbledore’s Army Readathon is a Harry Potter themed readathon (Duh!), which focuses on diverse books, especially #ownvoices books. This DAReadAThon is hosted by Aentee @ ReadatMidnight. It begins on January 1st, 2017 and ends on January 15th, 2017.

This will be my first time participating in a readathon, so I am so excited. Below is my sign up card:

…and this is my TBR list for the prompts:

georgia-peachesI often read books about gay main characters, since that’s my preference when reading LGBTQ books, and  I do read the occasional books about trans, and others. But I’ve always avoided reading books with lesbian main characters. It’s nothing against them though, just something ingrained in me after going to an all-girls school from 7 – 17 years old.

So, I decided to read this, where the main characters are lesbian.

24879132I went to Goodreads, and looked at the list of books people shelves as #ownvoices, and here’s one of the books I saw. I’ve been meaning to read this one, so I chose this.

51totttrsjlI think this choice is pretty self-explanatory.

Challenger deep has been sitting on my bookshelf since September this year. I really should start reading it.

Two of my good friends in RL have read this book, and confirmed that  this book deserved all the hypeness it gets. I’ve attempted to read this a few times before but never really got far, because my mind wanted to read something else instead.

So this time, I hope to finally finish reading this book.

27774758I don’t remember which, but one of the booktubers I followed recommended this. I’ve had this since September as well, but have not read it. I did attempt to once, but I had a reading slump at that time, and could not get invested in the book.

So, this will be my TBR for January as well, because I don’t think I will be able to finish all of those in two weeks, unless of course I decided not to read anything else other than books (which would be impossible because I can’t give up fanfictions even for just two weeks).

I’ve included the link to the original post in case anyone is interested in checking out the original post, and see how this works.

To everyone else who’s joining, good luck 🙂

30 Days Blog Challenge: On the Shelf (Day 3)

Hey guys~ It’s Day 3, I’m still doing this, and I’m still late but I’m in denial. Besides, I haven’t gone to bed yet, so it’s not yet a new day even thought it is actually 1 a.m. where I am right now. Haha

So, today’s post is On the Shelf. It is kind of self explanatory. What I have to do is list down 3 books from my shelf, and just… write how I feel about them etc.

Now, let’s get on to it…

Book Giveaway?

Hey guys, girls, people…readers? 😀

Lately, I’ve been buying so much stuff, especially books, which made me realize that I probably won’t be able to buy myself a new bookshelf until after I finally find myself a job.

So, I thought of clearing my shelf to give space for new books. Which led me to a question: What should I do with the books I’m no longer interested in.

You see, I’m a hoarder. So, giving away books, even the ones that I’m not interested in, is hard for me to do. That’s why, if I have to give them away, I would want them to go to someone who would take care of them, someone who read them and cherish them. Besides, they still looks new because I’ve either only read them once, or I haven’t read them at all.

And yes, I do realize that I sound like someone who is looking for a person to adopt my child. Which, I guess, I am, if books are humans.

So, anyways, I thought maybe I should do a book giveaway. I’m still not quite sure how it’s done, but once I know, I wonder if you guys would be interested in something like this.

If anyone’s interested, just like or comment down below. It’ll help me decide if I should do this giveaway.

  4. Gone Wild by Jodi Lundgren (Goes For A Walk/Hike)

Sooo, that was April’s bookish bingo. I hope I wasn’t too late. I slept over my friend’s house from Friday till Sunday, and when I returned home, I kind of became lazy and didn’t write this post.

Seriously, after not doing anything for the past two and a half days (okay, I did do something but w/e), I bet your brain wouldn’t cooperate too. Jk

Updates #3

Hi there… :3

So, I dropped the “Sunday” for this week because I missed Sunday, and it just seemed silly to call this “Sunday Updates” when it’s a Monday.

Anyways, first and foremost, let’s talk about real life.

Lately, I haven’t done much online (so hey, I’m sorry I’ve been neglecting you, blog! I’ll start posting book reviews again soon-ish! >.<) Instead, I’ve been busy reading and playing my piano. That’s a good and bad sign. Good because I get my readings done, although most of the books are not from my TBR for this month. Bad because, well, I was playing classical pieces from my Sonatina album. That means I’m stressed, and frustrated, annoyed, but I don’t know why…yet. And just FYI, some classical pieces are really great as a stress reliever. Such as Clementi’s Sonatina in C major — there are a lot of ‘fortissimo’ signs, so you get to play a lot of parts very loudly.

Other than that, hey, it’s almost April. Anyone else is going to join Camo Nanowrimo? 🙂

As for fanfiction updates:

Well… Lately, I’ve been procrastinating, procrastinating, procrastinating. A lot of my new drafts has been put on the back burner, and the one I’m working on for Malec Alphabet Soup Series…well, let’s just say I’m in a writing slump right now.

Now, last but not least, book updates:

I HAVE FINISHED HEROES OF OLYMPUS BY RICK RIORDAN! YAY! lol I’ve also finished reading Playlist for the Dead, which I bought last week even though I said I won’t be buying anymore new books in March. /sigh

Now I’m going to start reading Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan. Yes, I am aware that I should have read PJO first before reading HOO, but I only have book 2 for PJO. I didn’t know when I could borrow my friend’s complete PJO books, so since my sister has the complete HOO books (well, actually, no. She only has book 1-4, but I bought her the final book for her birthday present so that now she has the complete set xD), I decided to read HOO first. And gaaah! The feels! Seriously, poor precious Nico. I couldn’t wait for The Trials of Apollo to be published. 😀

On a side note, and totally unrelated (okay, not really). My mom took my 8 year old sister with her to Melbourne for the holidays. I’m so jealous! I missed Melbourne so much, and Hawthorn! And the food and drinks. Ah! It’s been almost a year since I drank Solo Lemon. It’s an Australian soft drink, and my favourite when I lived in Melbourne last year. /sigh

Joining in the Fun | My Life in Books Tag

Hiya~ 😀 It’s been awhile. I’ve been busy this whole week, baking and trying to write fanfictions because they’ve started a shadowhuntershipweeks on Tumblr, and it’ll be like a countdown to Lady Midnight’s release next month.

Also, before I forgot… HAPPY VALENTINE’S! haha I’ll live today vicariously through the characters from my fanfictions. Yes, I know, sad sad life.

Anyways, I was watching/listening to booktubers videos while baking and heard of this tag, so I decided to do it. So…

♥ Find a book for each of your initial

S – Saida : Summer Sisters by Judy Blume
A – Adila : Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the UniversS – Sukman : Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

Count your age along your book shelf- which book is it?

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare (is it cheating if I counted starting from my Shadowhunters shelf? haha)

Pick a book set in your city/state/country.

Adam dan Hawa (Adam and Eve) by Aisya Sofea (Well, I don’t know any English books set in my country, so I chose a Malay book.

♥ Pick a book that represents a destination you would love to travel to.

Bittersweet by Sarah Monk (I’ve always wanted to visit Cornwall, England ever since I read a few books that were either set in Cornwall, or have their characters visit Cornwall. I love the countryside, and the atmosphere in a small town. Too bad when I went on my Europe trip a few years ago, I didn’t have enough time to visit the countryside.)

♥ Pick a book that’s your favourite colour

♥ Pick a book that’s your favourite colour.

Yup. While I found my love of reading thick, English novels because of Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, but me starting to like reading is because of the Nancy Drew books. In primary school, I used to spend a lot of time with my late grandmother, and she would always bring me to the small library in neighbourhood. I would sit on the floor by the bookshelf and read Nancy Drew books for hours 🙂

♥ Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

Les Misérables by Victor Hugo. It was so thick and the fonts were so small. It took me months to finish.

Which book in your TBR pile will give you the biggest sense of accomplishment when you finish it?

The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Since it’s February, I chose a book from my February TBR pile.

Thank you for reading~ 🙂 I’m not going to tag anyone so if anyone wants to do it, feel free to do so. 🙂
