Spirk Recs Masterlist

Hello, everyone! As you know, or probably you don’t know, I love making lists. And also, I like having my lists everywhere. Like, if I can’t access Tumblr, or AO3, at least I have a list right here on my WordPress blog.

So…let’s get on to business.

*** = Love it very much (absolute favourite)
**   = Love it even if there’s a small part I didn’t like

Tangled Destinies (series) by Keira Marcos  ***
Spock convinces his father to move to Earth after refusing to bond with T’Pring. The consequences of this change the dynamics of his family and sets him on the path that will lead him directly to James Kirk.

Notes:
Jim and Captain Pike’s father-son relationship, Teen!fic, alien!Kirk, T’hy’la, Smart!Kirk

Doubt the Stars (series) by notfreyja, Straight_Outta_Hobbiton
James Tiberius Kirk never saw Riverside Iowa. He saw lots of things— Vulcan, Risa, Tarsus IV— but his Mother never left him on Earth.
The best decision Winona Kirk ever made was taking her children with her into space.

Notes: Smart!Kirk, Jim grows up on Vulcan, T’hy’la

Magpie by Waldorph **
Spock met Jim when he was 7 and Jim was 6. It has since been generally agreed that this was a mistake (or: the one where they grow up together and things are simultaneously better and worse for it).

Notes: Smart!Kirk, Teen!fic, T’hy’la, growing up together (I so love teen fic and growing up together fic

A Holiday Mix-Up by yaoichan12 ***
Jim’s boyfriend, Gary, invites him to spend the holidays with his family in Vancouver. In route, Jim meets Spock, who he had a less than friendly first meeting with during his first few months in Starfleet. Spock is on his way to Vancouver as well to spend the holidays with his human family. When they arrive in Vancouver they think Jim’s boyfriend may be Spock’s cousin, Garrett Mitchell. Jim goes with Spock as his communicator is dead and he has no way of contacting Gary to double check he is going to the right place.

He’s not.
Jim enjoys his time with Spock and Spock’s lovely family and is crushed when it is revealed that his Gary Mitchell is not Spock’s cousin Garrett Mitchell and that he is with the wrong family.
Based on the Hallmark movie A Very Merry Mix-Up

Notes: Jim gets along with Spock’s family, Academy Era, AU

Objective Data by walkandtalk ***
A young Vulcan decides to find a mate for his guardian, Spock. After careful calculations, Cadet Kirk is obviously the superior choice.

Notes: Academy Era, AU, Parent/Guardian!Spock, Slow Build

A Little Lady Called T’Val by iknewaman ***
Jim doesn’t usually start fights with strange Vulcans at the tram stop, but sometimes you just gotta.

Notes: Academy Era, Kidfic, Slow Build, WIP

A Bump in the Night by DB2020
When Halloween coincides with shore leave on Earth, Kirk’s husband and son indulge his illogical love of the holiday. Come nightfall, things that go bump in the night have Kirk on alert.

Notes: Space Husbands, Kid fic, AU

Mother, Why by iknewaman
The amount of things Spock would put up with for his mother was disconcerting. Like partaking in a social engagement she had predetermined for him and an unknown potential romantic interest.
A blind date. Spock’s mother had set him up on a blind date.

Notes: AU

Entering Orbit by museaway
Jim escapes to Iowa to avoid the media frenzy following the Narada incident, but a late-night miscommunication results in Spock turning up on his front porch.

Notes: Slow Build

My Beautiful Human by LadyTauriel
Jim is an extraordinary human. He exceeds expectations constantly set for him in all areas of his life. His leadership abilities, his quick thinking, and his intellect are contributing factors to his potential for becoming a great starship captain. His fair colouring and symmetrical features are striking, making him stand out in a crowd of even the most aesthetically pleasing individuals. His mind is like a beaming sun, a warmth that Spock has missed on this cooler planet, pulling him in with all of its promising radiance.

When Jim smiles at Stalek, however, it is his heart and his love that make Jim the most beautiful human that Spock has ever encountered.

Notes: Academy Era, AU, Kid fic, Parent Jim Kirk, Smart!Kirk

How To Inefficiently Acquire A Human Male in 98.6 Earth Days by noodleinabarrel
When Jim Kirk joins the xenolinguistics club, Professor Spock is drawn to the cadet despite his better judgment. Soon, Spock finds himself in a friendship he never asked for, a relationship that is quickly evolving into something more than he can handle. In an effort to free himself from Kirk’s persistent affection, Spock makes use of his anthropological research on human relationships, which has unexpected consequences.

Notes: Student-Teacher relationship, Academy Era, Smart!Kirk, Misunderstandings

The Third Wheel by littlebirdtold
Academy AU. In which Cadet Kirk constantly crashes Cadet Uhura’s dates with Commander Spock and monopolizes his attention.

Notes: Academy Era, AU

How Not To Fall In Love With A Married Man by Ferrero13 ***
A guide by Nyota Uhura.

Notes: Academy Era, AU, Bonded since childhood, Jim grew up on Vulcan

Chess!Verse by littlebirdtold **
Very loosely based on this prompt from the Star Trek XI Kink meme: Chess AU. Kirk and Spock meet as kids at an intergalactic chess tournament for the Federation Planets. Spock, a discipline of the strictest rules of chess and the undefeated champion in his age group, is completely pwned by Kirk, a wild-card who gleans his talent by playing all manners of chess styles. They become heated rivals, battling each other throughout their chess “careers,” which pretty much develops into UST once you toss teenage hormones into the mix. Inevitably chess is pretty much just their foreplay before they finally sit up and realize that they’ve fallen for each other

Notes: AU, Jim grew up on Vulcan, UST, rivals to lovers, slow build

Finding T’hy’la by CMM
This is a personal request from a fan, Katrinna Le Fay (yes, I do requests; sometimes it takes awhile, though).

Jim and Spock meet as children. Jim’s mother is absent; his caretakers are abusive. Sarek and Amanda rescue their son’s friend and raise the boys together. They discover they are t’hy’la and are bonded. Spock goes to Earth to join Starfleet; Jim goes with him.

This will be sort-of Abrams, with a dash of AU mixed in. for example, I’m not killing off Amanda. Enjoy.

Notes: T’hy’la, Jim and Spock grew up together, not-Uhura friendly, AU

Top 5 Wednesday | Favorite Non-Canon Ships (Oct 19th ’16)

Heya, guys~ 🙂 It is once again time for Top 5 Wednesday.

Top 5 Wednesday is a discussion group in Goodreads, created by Lainey, and currently moderated by Sam. This week’s topic is Favourite Non-Canon Ships.

These are the couples you love, but they never got together in canon (canon meaning: what actually happened in the text). Or that did get together, but weren’t together in the end of the series. Or a couple you ship but it’s actually impossible for them to be together because they are from different worlds, franchises, etc. Let your shipper heart run wild. I know mine will.

Now, let us get started~

The Cause of My Heartbreak: Star Trek Fanfictions

As you may or may not know, I love reading, and that includes fanfictions. In fact, most of the time, I spend almost 20 hours a day reading fanfictions. They are my guilty pleasures. The fanfictions I read usually depend on what phase I’m in. For example, if I’m in The Avengers phase, I will only read that fandom’s fanfictions and nothing else. It will take weeks before I shift to another fandom.
